The 14th Day of Midwinter, YK 5398

As compiled by Lord Remner Van Kevlen, Royal Advisor of Magical Affairs
for King Durant de Angelosis, ruler of the Kingdom of Langington.

The Independent State of Western Glashia

An army of 1,750 Dervatear warriors met up with the host of King Dommic Stonefast's army in the Tenet Woods. In all, King Stonefast, ruler of the nation of Tsan, has 7,500 warriors and 250 WarPriests under his command. Rumors are flying about another army of over 17,500 Dervatear massing within the Tsan Range and preparing to march to the Tenet Woods.

A small army of goblinkind, led by orc generals, massed within Freeman's Pass on the 12th Day of Midwinter. The reason for their gather wasn't clear, although the 3,000 Dervatear miners and artisans spread out within the Tsan Range have reported an increase in humanoid activity in the Range's foothills.

A spy found within the walls of Oesch-Onarga, or the University of Scholars, was caught and destroyed on the 13th Day of Midwinter, in the Year of Our Keeper, 5398. Although the spy didn't admit who he was working for, the Keeper of the Tiers, Ballesteros the All, was able to ascertain that the spy was loyal to King Tearsac of the Plains, ruler of the Province of Arvandus. Despite the fact that it wasn't confirmed, some are positive that the spy, a mage possessing impressive abilities, was sent to assassinate Ballesteros the All.

The Province of Arvandus

Over 9,500 regular infantry and 250 light cavalry have gathered along the Arvandus/Independent State border, with hundreds more joining every day. King Tearsac of the Plains, ruler of the Province of Arvandus, continues to relay threats not only to King Dommic Stonefast, but also King Durant de Angelosis the Fifth, ruler of the Kingdom of Langington. As has been the case for nearly a month, King de Angelosis fails to send King Tearsac a reply.

Two small settlements on the largest of the Inner Islands were razed by Arvandian marines, increasing the tension between Arvandus and the Kingdom of Jordyen. King Rhyus Gatau "The Lion," ruler of Jordyen, responded by launching over two dozen warships against a small Arvandian armada of merchant ships. When the sea battle was over, King Gatau had lost only one warship, while all seventeen Arvandian merchant vessels were either fired or commandeered by Jordanian marines.

Torresan

All has been quiet as of late in the state of Torresan.

Kinahsae

While returning form a raid against an orcish stronghold, King Hannitosh of the Vale, ruler of Kinashae, and the army of 750 Fpathen warriors he led was attacking by a horde of goblinkind. The battle between the Fpathen and the goblinkind, numbering well over 3,000, continued on for three days before the humanoids were turned and driven into the western foothills of the Tsan Range. In the End, only 165 Fpathen warriors, including King Hannitosh, made it back safely. Along with the 1,800 orcs killed during the initial raid, it is estimated that the Fpathen army cut down at least 2,500 goblinkind.

A band of mercenaries, numbering around 120, marched into the fringes of the Swamp of Derras Knog in hopes of subduing the increasing presence of tassarak. All of the mercenaries were killed, and the village that had hired them--populated by Fpathen and humans alike--was also destroyed by the lizard men.

Tsan

The 3,000 Dervatear miners and artisans spread throughout the Tsan Range, separating Freeman's Pass from Rockome, have reported an increase in humanoid activity throughout the Range, although very little fighting has actually taken place. Word reached the miners and artisans that a small military force of 1,000 Dervatear warriors, along with 1,900 more miners, were en route to their location.

An ancient cavern that had been found by Dervatear miners searching for veins of precious metals and ore in the northern mountains of the Tsan Range has provided the Dervatear with yet more treasures. Further searching by teams of Dervatear clerics and WarPriests revealed several tunnels branching off from the main cavern, leading to huge caches of pure mithril. Excavating teams were called in immediately to begin working on the mithril caches, while 2,000 Dervatear warriors and 100 WarPriests were stationed throughout the main cavern. The Dervatear clerics continue their search for more treasures left over by their ancestors, the Devatar, also known as "silver-beards."

A small herd of centaurs, thought extinct within the confines of Western Glashia, were seen by Dervatear scouts wandering the eastern foothills of the Tsan Range. The Dervatear kept their distance and, in due time, the twenty-six centaurs moved out of sight. Messengers were immediately dispatched to Oesch-Onarga with news of the sighting.

Cannovan

Fighting broke out in the streets of Gyper Bay, the capital city of Cannovan, on the 10th Day of Midwinter, in the Year of Our Keeper, 5398. The House of Hevehk and the House of Kallental, two of the larger trading cartels stationed within Gyper Bay, began fighting after a vessel carrying rare weapons from Gallaway docked two days prior. Ownership of the weapons is unknown, as both houses are claiming the cargo. Little is know of the cargo itself, save that the weapons and armor were supposedly fashioned by Dervatear smiths and enchanted by Pseithen mages living on Gallaway.

The Kingdom of Jordyen

King Rhyus Gatau "The Lion," ruler of the Kingdom of Jordyen, ordered the immediate destruction of an Arvandian armada of merchant vessels after Arvandian marines razed two small settlements on the largest of the Inner Islands. While King Gatau lost only one warship, nine Arvandian merchant ships were fired and eight more were commandeered by Jordanian marines. With the razing of the two Jordanian settlements and the sea battle, tensions between Jordyen and the Province of Arvandus are growing.

The siege on the city of Walshemdale, located along the northern border of the Kingdom of Jordyen, continues. The assailants, barbarians from the Northlands, along with twenty-six frost giants, attacked the city without warning on the 1st Day of Midwinter, nearly gaining control. On the 9th Day of Midwinter, King Gatau dispatched 2,500 regular troops from Fort Tallidor and sent them north to aid the citizens of Walshemdale.

Miaford Commonwealth

The 1st Day of Morning Dew--which is also the first day of Early Summer--has been set as the date for the wedding between Prince Khyle de Angelosis and the Lady Elizabetha Dumont, the daughter of a Crierton noble. All of Miaford Commonwealth has begun preparation for the celebration.

Jahhne

Peace continues to reign supreme within the Fpathen nation of Jahhne.

The Kingdom of Langington

As King Tearsac of the Plains, ruler of the Province of Arvandus, masses his troops along the Arvandus/Independent State border, King Durant de Angelosis V, ruler of the Kingdom of Langington, has begun gather his own troops, dispatching a force of 5,000 foot soldiers to the entrance of Trader's Gap, just within the foothills of the Kienken and Fillian Mountains. Preparations have already begun on gathering together a force ten-times as strong, in the event that King Tearsac begins acting "irrationally."

What was thought to be a massive pearl was discovered along the shoreline of Lake Gideon by fishermen out of Markham. Upon investigation by Lord Remner Van Kelven, Royal Advisor of Magical Affairs to King de Angelosis the Fifth, it turned out that the pearl was actually the egg of an ivory dragon, a extremely rare creature thought to live only in the Ocean Cephitanus, south of Sembiac. The egg was immediately brought to Gideon for further analysis.

NOTE: As aforementioned, the ivory dragon is a very, very rare creature thought to live only within the Ocean Cephitanus, on a small gathering of islands appropriately dubbed the Ivory Isles. An extremely benevolent creature, the ivory dragon is perhaps the wisest of all the mighty worms, next to the golden and platinum dragons. Mistaken for the ferocious and malevolent frost dragons that inhabit the northern tundra of the Northlands, most of the ivory dragons were killed off several centuries ago. To find the egg of an ivory dragon is cause for celebration indeed!

The Kingdom of Aarenki

The ninth wife of King Manosh Ottre, ruler of the Kingdom of Aarenki, gave birth to triplets on the 4th Day of Midwinter, in the Year of Our Keeper, 5398. Never before has a ruler of Aarenki been awarded with three children at once, and sons at that. King Durant de Angelosis the Fifth of Langington and King Rhyus Gatau "The Lion" of Jordyen were quick to respond with congratulatory gifts of crons and weapons, pleased that King Ottre, already the father of forty-eight children and all of them female, has finally been graced with a son, let alone three. Rumor has it that both King de Angelosis and King Gatau sighed in relief, pleased that the Ottre line would continue to rule Aarenki.
